The Affordable Care Act was a major step toward making access to health care a reality for people all over the country, providing health insurance coverage for millions of uninsured Americans through state Marketplaces and expanded Medicaid eligibility in some states. Community health centers have played a pivotal role in implementing the promise of the ACA, providing leadership to expand access in their communities. In 2013 the RCHN Community Health Foundation launched a new initiative to support development and implementation of outreach and enrollment efforts in the health center community, and funded 6 projects specifically focused on expanding coverage and access during the health insurance exchange roll-out.

In this webinar our six O&E initiative grantees will provide an update on their projects and best practices aimed at enhancing health insurance enrollment, coverage retention and access. Our grantees, representing 3 CHCs and 3 PCAs, will share their strategies, best practices and local challenges and offer insights based on their tried and tested projects.

We will hear from: Thu Quach, PhD, MPH, Director of Community Health and Research, Asian Health Services (Oakland, CA); Eduardo Herrera, CCHW, CAC, Coordinator for Outreach & Enrollment Programs, Community Health of South Florida (Cutler Bay, FL); Darcy Shargo, MFA, Chief Operating Officer, Maine Primary Care Association (Augusta, ME); Jeb Murphy, MA, Director of Communications & Data Coordination, Maine Primary Care Association; Ashley Mills, Outreach Program Coordinator, Main Primary Care Association; Antonio Pagán, LMSW, Senior Director of Planning, Morris Heights Health Center (Bronx, NY); Lane Jacobs, MPA, CPHQ, Outreach Program Manager, Missouri Primary Care Association (Jefferson City, MO); and Lisa Olson, MSW, Director of Policy and Programs, Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association (Madison, WI).
